January Family Community Service Report: Seattle Humane
Our first family service event of 2019 was successful! First, we made thank-you cards for volunteers, letting them know their time and effort is appreciated by the animals they take care of! Next, we made fleece blankets for their rescued pets, followed by a conversation reflecting as a group on how we helped today and how we can help some more from home! We also discussed the character strengths we admired among the members of our group when doing this kind work. We specifically mentioned compassion, love, generosity, empathy, and collaboration! At the end of our time together, our guide Heidi took us on a tour around their beautiful building, which now has three floors and plenty of room for rescued pets to rest, get checked by vets, and explore playtime! Seattle Humane Society has plenty of opportunities for volunteers, depending on their age.
